Jose Carlos Vera, MAS, LICSW, LCSW-C, CACII
Throughout the past years of my successful career, I have been able to use my expertise in three main fields. As a program developer, I dedicated part of my time to the formulation, development, and implementation of social services programs aimed at improving the quality of life of Hispanic and other minorities in the District of Columbia. As a consultant, I conduct therapeutic group sessions in Montgomery County for men involved in domestic violence and, as a mental health therapist, I provide holistic, comprehensive, culturally sensitive therapy services to children, youth, and families struggling with emotional and behavioral issues as a result of life events and or transitions.
I am an empathic, reliable, committed, culturally sensitive, and dedicated professional who promotes wellbeing as paramount of clinical interventions. It’s my belief that all individuals have the intrinsic capacity to learn, love, interact and contribute to society. To this end, I utilize an array of evidence best theoretical practices including CBT, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, strength-based, trauma-informed and, trauma focus based therapy among other approaches to enhance awareness, develop healthy coping and skills needed to help facilitate change.
